Strain History

The story of Grapes begins with its grandfather, the legendary Grand Daddy Purple, and its great-grandfather Purple Urkle — strains that stood out worldwide for their exceptional grape flavor and aroma.

GDP was among the first strains that retained its aroma during combustion, delivering a fruity, hookah-like flavor that remained on the palate.

However, Grand Daddy Purple had relatively weak resin production and moderate potency.

Although Seedfinder lists GDP as an “unknown breeder,” the true breeder is well known:
Grand Daddy Purp, the company of the same name, created the original strain.

Many breeders attempted to improve GDP, but the best refinement came from Supernova Gardens with the creation of Purple Punch.

Purple Punch is a cross of Larry OG x Grand Daddy Purple.
By adding Larry OG, Supernova Gardens preserved the characteristic grape flavor and aroma while dramatically improving resin production and bud density.
